Female playwrights came out in force last night and Comedy was Queen. A sold-out house laughed at the inspired performances onstage, sang along with Victoria’s terrific roadhouse piano playing, and generally had a swell time. The theme was Insanity and our host was playwright and part time lion tamer Charlie Cole.

16 plays were tossed into the play bucket:

Jo-Anne Walton - Honor and Keep Her
Sally Hinckley - Poles Apart
David Body - 15 Crazy Years
Chalmers Hardenbergh - Where Have You Gone, Joe Dimagio
Howard Rosenfield - A Crazyman's Guide To Harvard Admissions
Mike Cheung & Megan Tripaldi - The Bathroom
James Melenson - Sara Belle and Her Impeccable Timing
Kat Loef - Like You're In The Valley Now
Hal Cohen - Culebra 66
Josh Brassard - Stuck
Kerry Rasor - Friends with Benefits of The Doubt
Lynne Cullen - Aunt Viola
Anna Cranage Conathan - Worried
Jennifer Reck - Robin Hood
Steph Ross - The Classifieds
Michael Kimball - Ted 'n Larry

Of these 10 were chosen at random to be read:

Chalmers Hardenbergh - Where Have You Gone, Joe Dimagio
Mike Cheung & Megan Tripaldi - The Bathroom
James Melenson - Sara Belle and Her Impeccable Timing
Kat Loef - Like You're In The Valley Now
Hal Cohen - Culebra 66

BONUS FUN FACT: It was pointed out to us that Crowbait Club, by far, produces the most female playwrights of any theatre in Maine. We are checking to see about the rest of the country.
